Marathon Weekend!

The Most Wonderful Weekend of the Year was last weekend in Fargo.  Eric and I were registered for the 10K.  Kathie and Maddie joined us as spectators.  The forecast was for a rainy, windy morning!
We wore ponchos on the walk to the dome from our hotel, but took them off before the run.  We got to the dome in time to watch the couple get married prior to the start of a marathon.  The story is, they met at mile 19 of an ultra marathon.
Despite the weather, or maybe because of the weather, this was the most fun 10k I have done!  I did not PR (didn't expect to), but it was my fastest Fargo 10K, and I beat my expected time by 5 minutes.  I did not feel well prepared for this race at all, so was very happy with how it went!  My first mile was my slowest, my last mile was my fastest, and the 4 miles in between were all within 3 seconds.
Eric just runs....so I don't know what his split breakdown is.  He finished under an hour, and just missed a PR  by a minute.  He beat his Latin teacher by 10 seconds, so he was happy.

This was my 10th consecutive year running/participating in the Fargo Marathon!

Last Day

Jonathan and Eric finished classes on Tuesday.  Eric had 2 finals to take Thursday, and Megan was done on Thursday.
I forgot to take Megan's picture in the morning, so this was after school.  To celebrate the end of the year, she and I went to see a movie (can't remember name of it....the one about the boy who falls through the ice...)

Summer!!!!  It is Summer.

team

This is my new favorite picture.  These boys have been playing basketball together for a long time.  This is near the end of their game Saturday.  The "B" team finished the game, with the "B" coach coaching.  The "A" coach took a seat at the end of the bench and had some laughs with them.

Pentathlon

Fun thing about Pentathlon meets is the kids all swim the same 5 events, so they get to swim events that are not their normal area of competitions.  Eric competed in his first ever butterfly, and successfully finished a breast stroke w/o getting DQ'd (only previous time in the breast stroke was last year's pentathlon).  He did awesome in the 100 Fly-only ~1.5 seconds of from short course state qualifying, and  little over 7 seconds off for HS state qualifying.  Not sure he will be convinced to do it again, though!

meet #2

Eric's 2nd meet was an invite held at BSC.  He competed in the 200 IM relay, 50 Free, 100 back, and 400 Free Relay.  Points placed in all 4 events, and qualified for state in his 2 individual events!

qualified in the 100 back as well!

Eric's reaction to his coach confirming he qualified for state in the 50 Free!  Eric looked at the time in the adjacent lane by mistake, so didn't think he made it.

hoops vs St Mary's

J got a lot of play time in the 2nd half of the JV game-had 11 points!  Sophomores won-scored 99!  J had 22 points, 10 rebounds, some blocks, steals, and assists.

Williston Sprint meet

Eric's first swim meet of the season was in Williston.  It was a cool pool-all natural lighting.  And narrow bulkheads for timers/start blocks!
He missed a state qualifying time in the 50 Free by 0.42 seconds, and had a PR in the 50 back (not a state event for HS swimming).
7 hours of driving for a 2 hour swim meet.  And worth it!
