Last Day

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
-Dr. Seuss

Today was my last day at St. Alexius. Loved being a rebel-I wore open toe sandals, no socks, capri pants, parked in visitor parking, and vandalized St. Alexius property by writing "Lisa was here" underneath my desk. Enjoyed a hot evening on the river at Meriwether's Deck with co-workers/wonderful friends. I was wild- 3 glasses of Diet Coke and 2 glasses of ice water.

Child vs Tree

The tree won. Jonathan did his best to climb a tree today. He failed, and his punishment is shown on his back.

In other LaFleur fun, the kids enjoyed playing in the pool and slip-n-slide this evening. Our neighbor joined in on the fun for a bit, too.

American Gladiators

We had major battles in the backyard tonight. Dad, Megan and Garrett (next door neighbor) against Jonathan and Eric.

They battled through balloon tosses, obstacle courses, and balloon relays. Eric triumphed as the grand finale winner.

Tuesday

Another Tuesday, another day of running. T-Ball, followed by meeting Missy and Josie for lunch at the Chinese buffet at the mall. Home for naps, which no one took, then off to meet Angela and kids for a play date at a park. Don took the kids swimming after supper and I enjoyed the quiet and cleaned up a bit. Megan is showing her tempermental side more and more. We are scared, very scared for what she may have in store for us.

Pea Pickin

Last summer my boys were my pea pickers. This summer it is my daughter. She enjoyed feasting on peas this evening, dirt and all. We also had fun looking for a lady bug and watching a bird.

Fun w/cousins

It was another night of wild and crazy fun. Picnic food, sand box, slip-n-slides....what more could a kid want! The kids enjoyed playing with the Hoffman cousins visiting from Iowa, as well as Carter and Kylie. Megan is not so fond of sharing her toys, or her Mommy. Everyone stayed up too late, but it was worth it.

Tuesday

Busy day today. Went to the ceramic store to finish a project w/the kids' footprints and handprints for a housewarming gift for our former neighbors. Rushed to T-Ball for the boys. Rushed home to eat and give Megan a quick nap before rushing to a dr's appt to re-check Megan's ears/tubes. (Eric crashed on the couch while Jonathan colored.) No more rushing after that. Enjoyed a hot afternoon in the backyard. The boys played with new water guns. Megan did her impression of Annie Oakely while playing with the boy's toy shotgun. After supper, went to the playground at the boys' school. After Megan went to bed, the boys and I enjoyed our new favorite TV show-"I Survived a Japanese Game Show".

Lessons in geology

Since the boys are currently fascinated w/volcanos, Don helped them build one in the sand box this evening. This involved:
  1. Bury the garden hose in a vertical position w/sand
  2. Turn the water on full blast.
  3. Repeat steps 1-2 as necessary
  4. Administer emergency bath for all 3 kids.

Other fun stuff today included a trip to Raging Rivers Waterpark. Megan loved the lazy river. Jonathan was willing to give the blue slide another chance after the disaster of July 4th, 2008....it was much more enjoyable staying on top of the tube instead of underneath it.

6th Birthday Party

Don and I decided to abandon any and all sanity we have and host a birthday party for the boys' 6th birthday. Not the kind where quiet and calm adults come over to visit, but the kind where young children come over to play. We had 9 kids attend. Thankfully 3 extra adults stayed-we needed them! The weather did not cooperate-way too windy to play outside. That made things much noisier, but I think everyone still had fun. We are exhausted!
