Lions' Club Splash and Dash 5k

The Dacotah Lions club sponsored a 5 K today to raise money for a camp for children with diabetes. One of Eric's classmates, Halle, has diabetes, so several classmates walked on her team.  Megan and I were also registered.  The boys had shirts saying 'Halle's Team' on the front, and they all signed their names on the back of each other's shirts.
Megan and I did 6 laps, Eric did 12 (3 miles), and Jonathan did 13.
We ran in To Dr Kozel, so I had to get a pic of her and the boys.  Megan was playing with a friend, so missed out on that pic.

Cross Ranch 5th Grade Reading Challenge Campout

The 5th Graders at Lewis and Clark have a 5th Grade reading challenge every year.  Students who read 5,250 pages by mid-April get to partake in a campout at Cross Ranch State Park, which is ~35 miles north of Mandan.  Jonathan reached this goal Nov 2 (he was the first in the school!).  Eric reached his goal by the middle of January (he was the 8th student to hit the mark).  They loaded up on the fancy buses this morning at 9:30, and had a day of fun.  56 students (out of ~85 5th graders) earned the trip.  It was quite the sight when Megan and I got there for supper!

Jonathan and his teacher, Mrs. Johnson

Eric and his teacher, Mr. Shreve.  Mr. Shreve lives 2 houses down from us.  He's a good neighbor.
The Brotherhood.  These 5 boys will be sleeping in our tent.  The one on the right is Ryan Ulrich.  He is the most awesome kid.  He does not believe in sleeping at events such as these.

As Megan and I were leaving, she looked up in the sky and noticed a bald eagle flying!  I didn't believe her at first, but she was right.

The kids will return tomorrow around 10:30-11.  They get to go home once they get back to school.  I'm sure they will be tired!

2014 Fargo Marathon

This is near the finish line
This is our former neighbor Kelly.  Her fiancĂ© is the tall dude in blue ahead of her.  This is mile 8.
We started watching the runners just a few miles in to the race.  The crowd was packed!

This weekend was the 10th annual Fargo Marathon.  Kathie, Kellie, and I made the trip again.  The route was moved to downtown Fargo from the dome to celebrate the 10th Anniversary.
Finished a nice leisurely 5k Friday night.
Kellie near the finish line.  She is wearing the blue visor.
Beginning of race
This man juggles the entire race.  We saw him last year, too.
