Du Lute

We all enjoyed watching the draw bridge and the big ships in Duluth. The boys enjoyed throwing rocks into Lake Superior as well. We also visited the zoo and took a little tourist cruise into the harbor.

Look Ma, no hands!!!

Eric did it! He really did it! I am not sure how many miles he logged on the bike. I do know Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa were all tired from the many, many bike rides we got to take with him. He was so proud.

Itasca Park

We had fun at Itasca Park on Saturday. We did all the usuals-picnic, building dams on the beach and watch them break, swimming in the lake, and walking across the headwaters of the Mississippi.
The picture of Megan in her hat shows her getting ready to leave for Park Rapids. She found her backpack and the hat by herself.

Rain Drops Keep Falling on my Head.

The LaFleur kids have a tradition of worm hunting after big rainfalls. I think Megan may enjoy it the most. We had a fun time playing outside last night looking for worms to "rescue". I won't lie-some worms were injured during this adventure....not on purpose.

Dilly Bars and Bike Rides

The boys had a rite of passage on Sunday evening-they finally rode their bikes without training wheels! I took them to the bike trail by Prairie West Golf Course, and they took turns riding their big bikes and the old bike, with the training wheels. Mom had no one to take turns running/sprinting beside them, so I am dealing with some muscle injury issues. When Eric took off by himself, he screamed "I'm doing it Mommy" the entire time. Jonathan didn't have as much success as Eric, but he did have several streaks pedaling on his own. Mr Competitive is a bit jealous, but he is close to success as well. To celebrate their acheivement, we got Dilly Bars. Megan enjoyed this!
I have no pics of the bike riding experience, as I cannot hang on to a bike while sprinting and take pictures of the same time.

Slippin and Sliden

Jonathan and Eric received an early birthday gift from Brendan and Mary Kay. We enjoyed playing with it on Saturday...and Sunday.

Today's adventure

It's a beautiful day out today so we thought we would go to the zoo this am. Unfortunately, we did not realize it was Children's Day at the zoo, and half of Bismarck-Mandan was there. No problem-we will go to the Sertoma Amusement Park instead. Ummm, they don't open until 1 (it was only 10:30). We decided to continue on with the playground adventure. Sertoma park has playgrounds everywhere, so we are able to log 3 more on our journey. The Flemmers called our cell shortly after we got there, so they joined us for some playground fun as well.
On the injury front, Megan has another skinned knee. Jonathan has a mild scalp abrasion caused by some carelessness by his brother when launching a toy rocket. No significant blood loss.

Teamsters Park

We visited Teamsters Park and the Lion's Park this week. The boys voted Teamsters Park the better of the 2.

Fun with photo editing

I played around with a picture I took of Megan at the Teamsters Park (one of our stops on the Great Playground Adventure of 2009) Which one do you like the best?
