happy halloween

The boys decided to stay home to pass out candy this year, so just Megan went Trick or Treating.  She invited Ava and Zoe as well.  When we were done T&Ting, the girls watched a Halloween Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.  Don also got to bird out.

The Beast

Jonathan auditioned to move up to baritone saxophone from alto saxophone.  Today he found out he made it.  Since the bari sax is so huge, the kids who play it use the school's bari sax, and keep their alto sax at home for practice.  The fingering for notes is the same for both.

It weighs about 13#.  You wear a harness when you play it.

The Pumpkin Patch

Last Monday,  I took Megan to the Pumpkin Patch.  The boys decided they did not need to go this year.  They did want me to get them each a pumpkin cookie, though.  You are never too old for the pumpkin cookie (I personally feel you are never too old for the Pumpkin Patch, but I am not a 13 year old boy with a rep to protect).

I told Megan we could play for an hour.  We took a few obligatory pics at the photo op spots, walked through the nature trail, then she wanted to play on the hay bales.

Megan really, really enjoyed the little hay bale maze.  She ran around it over and over.  It took her a little bit of time to get the courage to jump between bales, but once she finally did it, she rocked.  It was getting time to go look at the pumpkins, so she asked to go around one more time.  Towards the end of her final lap, she jumped a little too hard, lost her balance and fell on the landing, then flipped over head first off the hay bale and landed on her shoulder/head.  She probably won't do the maze again :-).

Middle School Soccer Tournament

The end of season soccer tournament started today.  The Mandan Silver team played Horizon Black.  Horizon won the previous contact (that's soccer speak for game) by 1 point.  The winner of this game, er...I mean contact heads to the semi-finals on Monday.  The loser goes home.

Jonathan plays on defense, and played very well tonight.  The game was tied at zero at half time, but the Braves ended up winning 4-1.  They were pretty pumped!
