'18 Fargo Marathon

Eric and I ran the half marathon in Fargo this weekend.  It is one of my favorite weekends of the year!  Eric joined me last year for the first time, and was hooked.  Things were a little different this year, as my dear friends Kathie and Kellie (sisters) were not able to join us, so it was just Eric and I.  We still have managed to have a good time.
It was cool, cloudy, and windy for the race.  Eric finished in 2:21.02.  I finished in 2:32.47.  It was a PR for my by ~5 minutes!
I am so proud of Eric!  He didn't train the traditional way, but he did distance running for track to get ready for today.  We've had fun reminiscing about different things seen along the route, how we felt, and how our legs are recovering!  He's already talking about next year (plans to do the 10K next year).

Screen shot of a cool pic I say on Instagram.
Me running up to my cousin, Jeff!  He and Erik traveled to Fargo to catch up with the family.
 Leaving home!!
 Obligatory road trip coffee
Had to find the 13.1 car magnet
Stopped by to talk to a recruiter.

The traditional pic of the traditional free potato chips at the Expo
Re-stocking my chapstick supply at the Expo.  got 3 freebie ones.
Eric did not partake in the silly picture.
Didn't mean to take this pic, but I'm posting it because he has a hole over the toe in his shoe.  He's had these for just 3 months.
Let's go!  Jess also ran the half.
We survived!  He finished ~12 minutes ahead of me.  Said he took a short walk break at the water station, then a 10 second walk break at each mile from mile 9-13 when he hit his wall.
This is right around 9.75 miles.  I was starting to struggle and my legs were wearing out.  This hug from Jeff gave me a great and needed BOOST!.
Frying Pan post race.  We met up with the Cook Family to visit with Jeff and Erik. He had a large chocolate milk to go with it.

swim banquet

Last night was the end of season banquet for Eric's swim team.  The Eagle's Club sponsored the meal.
The 3 seniors and state title winners were all honored.  Team awards were handed out, as well as letter/pins for those who qualified.  We were just gushing with pride, as Eric was awarded the "Most Improved" award, and also earned a varsity letter in his first year of swimming!  Throughout the season, points are awarded for each practice attended, placing at meets, and times.  A minimum of 300 points is needed to letter, and Eric earned 300.5.  He was pretty excited.

not the best pic, but there was team trivia.  One question was "Which member of the swim team has a twin brother?"
Holding his Most Improved award and his Letter!  He wants a Letterman's jacket now

Eric wanted pics with all the seniors.  This is Joey, who also won Most Valuable Athlete
Brazilian exchange student Matteus, who now holds the Mandan school record in the 200 IM and the 500 Free
 Coach Manley.  He's awesome
 David and Eric
Isaac and Eric.  Isaac won the Team Spirit Award.
Both Eric and Megan plan to do Marlins long course this summer.  Excited to see how they do!
