18-0

The boys had their first football game of the season today.  The final score was 18-0.  It doesn't matter which team won, the important thing is having fun, and learning the fundamentals of the game.  That's code for: They lost.
Most of Jonathan's snaps were as tight end on offense.  Most of Eric's snaps were as safety on defense.  Both had some special teams play.  Our friends Craig and Kathie were on the sidelines as part of the LaFleur Fan Club.
Jonathan is #6, and has the long sleeve shirt under his jersday.  Eric is number 12, and has a blue shirt under his jersey.

Megan was there to cheer on her brothers as well.  By 'cheer on her brothers', I mean play on the playground, run up and roll down the sledding hill, and ask every 5 minutes if it's time to go home yet.

Huxley was with us, too.  After the game, I picked up Papa Murphy's for supper.  Yum.

Ready for facebook?

I let Megan take some pictures with my camera today.  Based on the pictures, I think she is ready for a facebook account, as the majority were self portraits with the facebook facial expression.

Kacy

Kacy has been displaying some negative behaviors lately.  She does not feel it is necessary to use the litter box.  I took her to the vet to rule out a bladder infection.  The vet confirmed what we already knew.  She is a spoiled brat.
The vet suggested we let her be outside more, since she feels she is peeing to protest not being able to go outside.  In the human world, this is known as Child Directed Parenting.  This basically involves giving kids whatever they want, despite any bad habits it may lead to.
We thought we'd give it a try, as I don't like my cat peeing on the floor.

If she wants to nap in the towels, we let her.
If she wants to jump onto the kitchen sink to look out the window, we let her.
If she wants to plop down right at the top of the stairs, we let her.

If she wants to nap on the kitchen table, we let her.

She has not had one 'accident' since letting her have her way.

Football

The boys have had football practice 3 nights a week.  Their team color is orange, and the are the Longhorns.
Jonathan is in the grey, getting ready to run a route.
And now he's dropping back while being QB

 The kid didn't catch it.
Eric was practicing defensive drills while Jonathan was on offense.  I didn't get many pictures of him, as someone ended up standing in front of me and blocking my shot.
I wrote their first names on the front of their practice shirts to help the coaches know who is who.

First game is Saturday.

Monopoly

Friday night, we whipped out the good ol' Monopoly game for a competitive, yet friendly, game of conquering the real estate market.  We started at 7 pm.  We ended at 9 pm.

Don sneaks by the "Go To Jail" space
 Jonathan taking a Chance card
Note how nice my piles of money are sorted and arranged.
Note how Eric's are not.  It didn't slow him down.  He ended up winning the game
Kacy wanted to play with the game pieces.  We had to put her in our bedroom while we played.

We all had fun.  I learned that Don does not feel money should go to the center of the board for the Free Parking loot.  Gasp.  I insisted it did.  The discussion led to Don getting out the official rules.  I don't remember verbatim what it said, but it did indicate that players could determine how Free Parking was handled.  We took a vote.  We put the money in the pot.

Boys of Fall

Tackle football starts in 5th grade in Mandan.  The boys are pumped.  I don't have the best of pictures yet, as they are a bit sensitive to having their Mom take their pictures.  Mini-camp finished last night.  They will get their team assignments and start practice with their teams next week.

Back to School

Fifth and first grade this year.  The boys 'rule the school'.  Last year as elementary students.  Our last year having all 3 kids in one school.

All 3 in black.  Mourning????  It was not planned.
They had a fun day.  I picked Megan up.  The boys rode home on the bus-something new we are doing this year.  No more daycare for them.
Megan has Mrs. Steele, just like the boys did.  This was taken at open house Tuesday night.  I was able to sign up for candy corn for the Halloween party.  Score!  I did not get pics of the boys with their teachers.  They both are happy with the rooms that they are in.
