Band concert

The boys had their Winter Band concert on Thursday night.  They were joined for part of the concert by the Missouri Valley Community Orchestra (or something like that).  It's the largest group to play on stage at the MHS auditorium.  Since the boys' class is the largest class to go through Mandan, pretty much everything they do is 'the largest ever."....  These pics were taken from the band's facebook page

 The man playing trumpet in the middle is Mr. Flores.  He used to be a para-professional at Ft.  Lincoln.  This past summer, he worked at Megan's daycare.  She just loved him.  He currently is the music teacher at Christ the King in Mandan.

Next year, music classes are optional.  Eric is choosing to continue with band.  Jonathan will again do band and choir.

Piano

Megan has piano with Mrs. C Thursdays after school.  Tonight, she passed her primer level,a nd now starts level one!

Kidz Bop.... Way back in November

Megan loves Kidz Bop songs.  She's been begging to see them in concert ( which I didn't realize they even did).  Then one day, while on the civic centers website to buy Disney on ice tickets, I saw that Kidz bop was coming to Bismarck.  So.... I got us tickets for that instead!  We went with the BFFs.

Mandan Girls' hosted Tournament

Another weekend, another tournament.  5th weekend of a 7 weekend strecth of tournaments.
First game was against another 'Mavericks' team.  This one is from Mohall.  Mandan won by 24.  J played great defense against their big guy. Another Mom joked that J would be smelling his armpit the rest of the day, since that's where J lined up height wise on the guy.
Second game was against Woodlake.  We've won our previous two meetings.  Won this one as well, but it took OT and some playing from behind!
This morning we played the Fury.  Close game, but the Mavs won.  J picked up 3 fouls in the first 5 minutes.  Sat the rest of the first half.  Started again in the second half and soon picked up his 4th foul.  Didn't play anymore that game.  The team did great, coming from a 3 point deficit at halftime to win by a somewhat safe margin.
Championship game was against the Wolves.  We haven't played them yet this year.  They are a variation of a team we played the previous years.  Don and I were sitting behind their coach during the 3rd place game played prior.  He was yelling at the refs quite a bit, and I made a comment that if he acted like that during our game he would get a technical. He did.  And, he was ejected.  No fun for the kids on his team.
Jonathan played more aggressive on offense in this game.  He drew lots of fouls early, and ended up being fouled 8 times.

BSC Tourny

The Mavs played in the BSC tourny this weekend.  They have been in a bit of a slump lately, going 1-2 the last 4 tournaments after starting the season 14-2.  To add to the stress of the slump, Jaxon ended up with a stress fracture during last weekend's Tournament.  He is out for 2 weeks, possibly more.

First up is the Bombers.  They beat us 2 weeks ago by 1 in double OT.  Mavs were a little shaky to start but won by 5.

Next up was the Terminators.  We beat them last month by a safe margin.  Still beat them, but only by 10.

This morning we played the Heat from Dickinson.  Mavs won by 22.  We ended up playing them again for the championship.  They beat one of our Bismarck rivals in the loser bracket.  Our second game was a little closer score wise, but the Mavs won!!!

The boys all played so hard!

Brace face no more

Eric got his braces off last month.  We are very happy :-)
