Kickoff to the Great Playground Adventure of 2009
Today was the beginning of what we are calling the Great Playground Adventure of 2009. Each week, we plan to visit a different playground in Bismarck/Mandan. It's an idea we got from our friend Chanda. Today, we explored the playground at shelter #9 at Sertoma Park. The playground was recently renovated to a space theme. The boys played Star Wars and Transformers. Megan basically walked in circles, up the steps, down the ramp, repeat....

On to First Grade!
We survived Kindergarten. We are ready for first grade. What a year the boys had. We celebrated after school by going to Space Aliens. Eric made it the whole year without having to "pull a card", which means he did not get in trouble at all (go figure...) In Jonathan's defense, he only had to pull 3 cards.

Zoo
We took advantage of the 70 degree weather to go the zoo Sunday afternoon. The river otter was entertaining. Megan is still scared of the big cats, goats, and also of the bears, so she doesn't get too close to those exhibits.
After the zoo we went to Lauren Weigel's graduation-extra bonus-Mom didn't have to cook supper! We weren't sick of each other yet by the time we got home, so we walked to the park and played there for another hour or so. Megan loved the big slide. We reminisced that it was a year ago Jonathan broke his collar bone.

Day at the Salon
Megan got her first haircut on Friday. She was very excited for the big day, and had no trouble hopping up on the chair. She sat very still through the entire cut, and thanked Kristen for the haircut all the way home. I was worried she would lose some curl with the cut, but I think it is actually curlier

Lessons from a 6 year old
I shared w/Jonathan the devastating news that Brad Childress flew to Mississippi today to visit with Brett Favre about playing for the Vikings. His response: "But he's a good quarterback". Maybe I can still cheer for the Vikings if he is their QB...

worn out
I Scream, You Scream
The beloved Ice Cream truck made its 2009 debut in our neighborhood this evening, as always, coming just before supper to ruin our appetites. And as usual, despite having a plethora of ice cream treats in our freezer, we coughed up $1.75 per treat for each of us. Our neighbor, Buddy, was as excited as we were.
After our treat, Eric rode his bike, Jonathan played basketball, and Megan played basketball, rode her trike, all while holding on to her purse.
